Acquisition combines mobile and security expertise, resulting in even stronger enterprise MDM solutions

BOSTON, MA and OXFORD, UK – April 3, 2012 – Complete security leader Sophos today announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire DIALOGS, a privately-held provider of mobile management solutions, headquartered in Germany. DIALOGS, one of Europe’s leading mobile device management (MDM) providers with customers such as BMW AG, Daimler AG, Siemens AG and ThyssenKrupp, brings twenty years of experience in mobile product development. This acquisition further solidifies Sophos’s leadership position within enterprise mobile protection.

The increased prevalence of smartphones and tablets represents a major shift in the way people and businesses work and collaborate. IT staff at enterprises of all sizes are faced with new challenges and risks in handling and securing an array of corporate and personal devices. That, coupled with the ever-expanding usage of apps and the threat of device loss or theft, reinforces the importance of mobile data protection solutions

March 2012

Tech4Biz | 16 Mar 2012 :  Dell's acquisition of SonicWALL has been widely accepted as further confirmation of its ambitions in providing professional services for enterprise, characterised by its SecureWorks and KACE services. However, not everyone agrees with this assessment.

"As has been seen many times over in the past, Product-People-Philosophy [concepts] have not always merged in the case of corporate mergers and acquisitions," said Harish Chib, senior vice president, New Business Development, Cyberoam. "Dell's focus has been on the personal computer industry so far and not on security. Dell's takeover of SonicWALL business may dilute [its] focus on the security business in the longer term".

Consequently, Cyberoam is offering swap-out deals for users of SonicWALL products and services. The company will be providing a free one-year subscription on Web Content and Application, IPS and Anti-X subscriptions on the trade-in of SonicWALL appliances to buy Cyberoam products.
