Cyber Expo Ireland - A Thriving Success
The Irish Management Institute (IMI), Dublin was the setting on Wednesday 29th November, for Ireland’s 1st Cyber Data and Compliance Expo – Cyber Expo Ireland. With over 600 attending on the day, the delegates were welcomed into what can only be described as a practical but serious demonstration of the latest global Cyber Security software available on the market.
There were exhibitors from the US, Europe, UK and Ireland who provided a real sense of how the technology has advanced to keep one step ahead of the rapidly growing Cyber Crime Industry. Furthermore, featured Value-Added Resellers were on hand to advise as to how to integrate these into existing customer infrastructures and a selection of Security Experts shared their industry leading insights via Expert Talks and 1-to-1 consultations. With all these entities present and the attendance of over 600 delegates from countries around the world, we brought the whole Cyber Security Ecosystem together.
The response received from the whole ecosystem is that this event has been badly needed in the industry and that they are look forward to being part of it again next year, #CyberExpoIreland2018. This is really a great endorsement for the months of preparation that has gone into organising an event of this magnitude and quality.
Cyber Security impacts all our daily lives. It’s often seen as an IT issue, but in truth it’s a business one. That was evident in the demographics of people who were in attendance representing Ireland’s Enterprises from both the private and public sectors. The day was kicked off with our Trade breakfast where there was tea, coffee, light bites and plenty of discussion and time to network. Thereafter, our main Expo went into full swing with industry professionals and other representatives keen to learn, understand and get a better insight of the cyber security landscape. In addition to the world class Exhibitors and Resellers on hand during the day, the subject matter Experts were in great demand with range of talks and conversations taking place. Some of the most requested expert advice sought was around - Cyber Training and Awareness for executive teams, IT data forensics & electronic discovery (disclosure and regulatory demands), along with the legal and financial impacts of GDPR and data compliance.
After a full day, 08:30 – 17:30, the event culminated in a more relaxed session after the formal close where the C-Level wine reception was hosted by critically acclaimed Irish stand-up comedian, columnist and broadcaster, Colm O’Regan.
We also took this opportunity to launch our new partnership with US giant, CA Technologies. Louise Ashbrook, Sr Director, Partners and Channel at CA Technologies explained, “We required a distributor with experience of the Cyber Security market and an existing reseller channel that can take the CA Security portfolio to this market. Given their extensive experience of the Irish market and their existing portfolio of complimentary products, we are confident that Renaissance is the right partner to create demand and success for CA solutions”

We have spent a long time engaging with business leaders across Ireland to make sure we designed an Expo that covered the key topics and challenges that companies are facing daily. Based on feedback both during and since the Expo have been extremely positive and we believe the structure and content were “on-point.” With such an enthusiastic response, our focus will now be on Cyber Expo Ireland 2018!
